Radio star in the making?
Radio Kent were running a news story about scam model agencies this morning. I was interviewed live on the John Warnett show to discuss how some of these agencies operate. You can listen to the interview on BBC i-player but I will also be interviewed for the Drive show later today.
The key points are that a genuine model agency will not require payment upfront and will not require you to spend a fortune on photos. Many organisations that may appear to be agencies are actually just different names for photo studios and offer free photo shoots to entice potential models into the studio. They are then subject to flattery and hard sell to encourage them to pay many hundreds of pounds, in some cases over £1000, for photos that they do not need.
