Chinese New Year Parade in Medway
The celebration of the Chinese New Year in Medway has emerged from a small Chinese community event into the third largest celebration of its kind in the United Kingdom, involving the whole Medway community in a grand street parade with dragons, lions and more than 250 people, in costumes especially imported from China. The celebrations take place in Chatham town centre.

12 noon - The Chinese New Year Parade, with 150 people in costume, starts from the Sir John Hawkins Flyover.
12.30 to 2.30pm - Chinese New Year Entertainment, near Tesco at the eastern end of Chatham High Street.
Entertainment includes:
Medway Dragon Dance Team,Medway Lion Dance Team,Foshan Lion Dance Team,Chinese Folk Dance with Dance Alley Dancers,The Dragon and Lion Drum Team.
The Chinese New Year parade celebrating the Year of The Dog took place in Chatham and Rochester on 5th February 2006. This was a week later than other parades as the main dancers were performing in the London parade a week earlier.
