Sheppey Pirates Plank Walking Championship Photos

10^th Annual Walking the Plank World championships held at Queenborough on Sheppey on Sunday 13^th August. The competition attracts pirates from far and wide and all money raised is for charity. The contest is preceded by the arrival of the pirate ship the Salty Sea Pig at the quay in Queenborough. The plankers are then dispatched into the waters by Captain Cutlass. The event has become a major attraction as a motley collection of 'plankers' take turns to be pushed off a wooden plank by the legendary cut-throat.
